Yugo SKS. I own a WASR-10 and can back up the fact that the 7.62 x 39 ammuntion can be found farely cheap. I saw some Yugo SKS rifles at a gun show this past week going on a special for $149. Oct 8, 2009 · Chinese is light, but can be less accurate. Yugo is heavier, but more accurate and better machined. Yugo's do have some firing pin problems, but can be replaced with a Chinese one for about 5-10 dollars. I have one with over 1000 rounds shot by me and it works fine with the original pin. This is so because SKS has a 20 inches long barrel whereas AK 47 has a 16 inches long barrel. The safety in SKS is much better than in AK 47, as in the SKS rifle, it is located in the trigger guard. Pretty much any other SKS should function fine with a cosmetic blemmed gas tube. SKS's are pretty much overgassed.
